BALLET

Classical Ballet is the core of all dance genres and provides the pupils with a sense of discipline and technique. Through our years of experience, we provide a strong foundation in ballet that enhances and improves training, complementing other genres of dance.

Students can start Ballet from pre-school age where the very basic ballet steps are learnt. As our pupils develop through the grades, we partner a strong foundation in technique combined with a love of classical ballet to bring out the best in all our students.

IDTA Ballet exams are offered to our students. At the higher levels, these examinations also count for UCAS points should students wish to go to university.

To be considered for our competitive team Ballet is a required subject.

TAP

Tap is an important part of a dancer’s training to be a versatile dancer within the industry. The most important skill that a dancer learns from studying tap is a sense of rhythm. It also teaches weight placement and musicality, building strength in the legs and feet. Tap is as popular today as it was in the heyday of the great Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly musicals.

We offer exams within the IDTA tap syllabus. At the higher levels, these examinations also count for UCAS points should students wish to go to university.

Tap is a style used in our competition teams however it is not compulsory.

JAZZ

Jazz explores the many different dance styles and music choices that the performing industry has to offer.  Jazz is a more technique-based subject and pupils will learn to develop many different movements reaching to a broad choice of varying rhythms and musical styles. It incorporates the technical elements of ballet in a more stylised and free way. Jazz encourages pupils to explore different dynamics and expressive performance styles in their dancing. Students learn various exercises for general strength and flexibility, leading to dance amalgamations and sequences.

Pupils can take IDTA examinations in this subject at all levels. At the higher levels, these examinations also count for UCAS points should students wish to go to university.

These classes are a requirement for students wanting to be part of our competitive teams.

ACRO

Acro includes elements of acrobatics, gymnastics, partner work and dance.  Acro classes are super fun and great for building confidence and trust when working together. Students learn and improve tumbling, flexibility, strength, balance, contortion and partner/group work. Acro can hugely help dancers and make them stand out from the crowd with impressive tricks and skills. This dance style incorporates acrobatic movement into elegant flowing routines, with creative, expressive lifts and poses.  We follow the Acrobatic Arts Syllabus.

We advise dancers to train in at least 1 dance genre to complement their Acro training and progress a little quicker, however, we also welcome those who want to attend Acro alone.

Our Acro classes are available from the age of 3 upwards. Classes are available for all abilities and levels, and we regularly assess our students to ensure they are in the correct class for their progress.

We also have our very own Acro competitive team.
